BIOGRAPHIES

Born Arthur Antonio Garcia in a small town up in the Texas panhandle of Hereford, the town without a toothache, where cattle are king and so are tornadoes.

Art moved to Dallas/ Ft Worth in the fall of 1982 and attended Texas Institute to persue a career in data processing.

In 1986, he started helping at KNON 89.3 FM by taking down dedications with Ruben R Ramirez on his show, The Hispanic Hit Parade.

He enrolled at Elkins Institute for radio broadcasting in 1987 and graduated with honors on April 08, 1988.

He started working part time at KESS Tejano 1270 AM in 1988, along side Super Loop Figueroa on Friday evenings from 6:00 PM till

12:00 Midnight and covering vacations during the week when DJ’s needed time off or were sick.

He briefly worked at KICK FM when it came into existence. They already had in mind the radio personalities they wanted to bring in, and unfortunately

Art’s present full time job, which he enjoys and loves, is working as a Multi -Video Technician in the Telecommunications Dept. at MBNA Technology.

When the late Jesse Ortiz “The Knight Rider” passed away in March of 2000, he volunteered his services, with his companero Tony Garcia, for La Onda Tejana

at KNTU FM 88.1, which can be heard on Saturday mornings from 6:00 AM till 12:00 noon. A show that started with only 30 minutes of airtime by

Simon “The Diamond” Molina, when he was a student at North Texas State University in Denton, it now has been air staple for over 30 years.

Art is very proud to be a part of La Onda Tejana radio show and his contributions to the history in the making of Tejano music.

He has worked along side many radio personalities that have worked hard to bring Tejano music to mainstream radio in DFW. Many of them are gone or retired but,

Art will always remember and treasure the great memories of them all and will always have a place in his heart for them.

The story of Art getting behind the microphone at KNTU FM is when Alex Castillo and the late Jesse Ortiz “The Knight Rider” were the announcers; he would

get up early Saturday mornings and just show up at the studio. They would ask him to take down dedications that were being called in. Art announced the

PSA’s and dedications over the air, something that he was more than thrilled to do. The moral of it all is if you want something, believe in yourself,

Art celebrated 17 years in radio broadcasting this past September 15 of 2004 el mes de la Raza, aaajjjjuuaaa. Que Viva El Tejano!

EN 1987 LINDA LOGRO EL RECONOCIMIENTO COMO LA MEJOR VOCALISTA FEMENINA DEL AÑO EN LOS WETS TEXAS MUSIC AWARDS EN

LA MUERTE DE SU PADRE EN 1994 FE UN DURO GOLPE PARA ELLA Y SU FUTURO EN LA MUSICA ERA INCIERTO. PERO LINDA SE SINTIO EN LA OBLIGACION DE CONTINUAR CON EL LEGADO DE LA FAMILIA ESCOBAR.

LA REALIZACION DE SUS PROYECTOS PRONTO SE VIO MATERIALIZADA CUANDO CONOCIO AL ACORDEONISTA JAPONES KENJI “EL GATO” KATSUBE Y SU CONJUNTO. ELLOS FORMARON UNA MEZCLA DE PENSAMIENTOS Y DOCTRINAS ASIATICA-TEJANA-MEXICANA. A ESTA FUSION LINDA LE LLAMO “ARROZ Y FRIJOLES”.

EN EL AÑO DE 2001 LINDA REALIZO UNA GIRA POR JAPON Y FUE PREMIADA COMO LA VOCALISTA FEMENINA DEL AÑO POR LA SOUTH TEXAS CONJUNTO ASSOCIATION (STCA) MUSICA AWARDS, PREMIO QUE REPITIO EN EL AÑO 2003.

PARA ESE MISMO AÑO, PERO EN EL MES DE MAYO, LINDA SUFRIO OTRA TERRIBLE DECEPCION, CUANDO SU COMPAÑERO KENJI “EL GATO” KATSUBE FALLECIO DE CANCER.

ELLA LANZO AL MERCADO UNA PRODUCCION DEDICADA A KENJI TITULADA “LLORANDO EN SILENCIO”, EN LA CUAL INTERPRETA UNA COMPOSICION DE SU PROPIA INSPIRACION LLAMADA “EL CORRIDO DE KENJI”, OBVIAMENTE EN SU HONOR. CON ESTE MISMO CD LINDA FUE GALARDONADA POR SER LA CANCION NUMERO UNO DEL TOP 100 EN EL AÑO 2005 EN LA ESTACION DE RADIO “KEDA” DE SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, LA CANCION SE TITULA “LONELY LETTERS”

EN RECUERDO DE SU PADRE Y TODOS LOS VETERANOS, LINDA FUNDO “EL VETERANO CONJUNTO FESTIVAL”, EL CUAL CUENTA YA CON 8 AÑOS DE EXISTENCIA Y ES A BENEFICIO DE LA FUNDACION “ELIGIO ESCOBAR”, LA CUAL FUE ESTABLECIDA PARA AYUDAR A JOVENES CON TALENTO MUSICAL, EN LA MUSICA DE CONJUNTO Y PODER CONTINUAR CON SU EDUCACION. HASTA AHORA ELLA HA RECONOCIDO A 19 JOVENES TALENTOSOS.

RECIENTEMENTE LINDA FUE DISTINGUIDA CON LAS LLAVES DE LA CIUDAD DE ALICE, TEXAS, LA MEJOR INTERPRTE FEMENINA POR LA ESTACION DE RADIO “KJKA” Y COMO LA VOCALISTA FEMENINA DE AÑO POR LA ESTACION “KOPY” DE ALICE, TEXAS.

LA MISION DE LINDA EN LA VIDA ES PROMOVER Y PRESERVAR SUS RAICES MUSICALES, POR LO QUE TRABAJA TIEMPO COMPLETO CON TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE EN CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, LUGAR DONDE ELLA RADICA.
